Using PhotoMover to email images:

Using PhotoMover with Applescript to send small images to other people via e-mail.

PhotoMover has an option to scale images to a selected size without changing the orginals. A file size of 800 x 600 or smaller is recommended when e-mailing images.

Email preferences in PhotoMover:

emailprefs

If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) requires authentication, select authentication. Apple's iDisk / mac.com is one example of this. The setting for apple's iTools would be: SMTP Host: smtp.mac.com, Check off Use SMTP user Authentication, and if your email was: qtfloat@mac.com, the user id would be: qtfloat.

If you drop files on PhotoMover with e-mail selected you will be prompted as follows:

emailConfirm

Please check your System Preference and confirm that the Email Address and Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP Host) is set. PhotoMover uses the SMTP host setting and updates it as you change it.

Tip: Check out the AppleScript to make custom e-mail droplets to send to users. Duplicate the AppleScript and rename them to there name, once setup you don't need to update anything when you use it.

Note: No need to set PhotoMover to e-mail, since it will switch to e-mail and restore the host upload host when it's finished e-mailing.

  2. Set the subject of the e-mail to the exact name of the album where you want to place your pictures.
  3. Select your picture or drop the pictures on this scripts icon. Then, PhotoMover will e-mail the pictures to dotPhoto.
  4. You will receive a return e-mail that alerts you when your files are uploaded.  After confirmation, sign onto dotPhoto with your username and password and go into the album you chose your images to be placed in.
Note: You may need to Refresh the page to view the images. If your photos don't appear right away click the refresh button. If after clicking the Refresh button they still do not display, make sure the images are JPG files and are not larger than 10MB each.
